Fort William is situated at the head of Loch Linnhe and at the foot of Ben Nevis, (the UK's highest mountain), in the West Highlands of Scotland.

Fort William Coastguard Rescue Team is one of nine teams in the
Fort William Sector, which covers the Lochaber area.

All teams are administratively responsible to Clyde Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, (MRCC), through their operations room located in Navy Buildings, Greenock.

Our main role is coastal search and rescue but other important work is counter pollution, receiver of wreck and incident prevention.

Incident prevention work is carried out at local schools, yacht clubs and at an area event for all Emergency services named " Safe Highlander". We attend local gala days and regatta's in an effort to promote water safety.
